Statement

I want to help shape a more nuanced, mature, self-improving system with MATs and SATs, some of which need to be encouraged to grow, some consolidated, some re-brokered and others left alone. I am now in my thirteenth year as a Headteacher, having improved the Ofsted ratings of schools in two very different circumstances. My current headship is at Stratford upon Avon School, a single academy trust in a selective area. Previously I led Stockland Green School, a small school in Central Birmingham as part of the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership, which evolved from a hard federation into a successful multi academy trust. As such, I have a range of experience to contribute to the Advisory Board.
Nationally, I contribute to educational developments in my role as a member of ASCL Council, currently serving on the Leadership and Governance Committee.
Locally, I am a Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Leader of Education. I actively liase with Warwickshire Local Authority and recently helped reshape their school categorisation process. Networking is important so I contribute to our local secondary and primary Headteacher groups and have built relationships with some headteacher colleagues across the Midlands region, from Northamptonshire to Warrington, through the Jubilee Network.
