David Coaché

As a headteacher and senior leader for 15 years before establishing and developing a new Trust in the West Midlands as CEO since 2018, I am a strong advocate of the school-led system and want to see children across the region benefit from the opportunities created for schools to flourish within a collaborative education Trust. Upwards convergence in this system can only exist if there is sufficient diversity and autonomy to innovate and overcome the systemic problems that emerge, preventing schools from providing consistently excellent educational experiences for their students. I would therefore welcome the opportunity to contribute to the decision-making process that allows successful Trusts to support other schools on their improvement journey, with sufficient regard to the need for collaboration between Trusts and academies across the sector.
The impact on communities of successfully run local schools over time is well documented - providing sustained, high quality education for children in the community in which they live is the aspiration for school leaders everywhere. Empowering schools to make the provision necessary to continually improve our education system is important work towards which I would make a positive contribution.
