Guy Shears

The Advisory Board provides oversight for continued improvement and development in our school system. I’m fully committed to ensuring every decision is based on comprehensive local knowledge, integrity and fairness, using my strategic understanding of what works and what doesn’t for schools in the area.

I’ve held leadership positions throughout the region, including in Birmingham, Worcestershire, Coventry, and the Black Country. I started teaching 27 years ago, with senior leadership encompassing more than 20 years. My background includes teaching in secondary and leading across all phases including nursery, primary, secondary, sixth form and specialist units in two- and three-tier systems, including CE schools. As Executive Principal (CEO) of Central Region Schools Trust (founded by The RSA in 2012 (10 schools)), I have a passion for genuine inclusion and a deep understanding of education in challenging circumstances and directing resource to target school improvement.

I am a National Leader of Education and Pupil Premium reviewer, supporting schools across the region. I inspect for Ofsted. I am a strategic partner to two Teaching School Hubs, covering Sandwell, Dudley, Worcestershire and Herefordshire, and a member of several disadvantaged school networks. I would bring my passionate commitment to social justice to the Advisory Board.
