Dafydd Lawday

I have served as CEO for Mercian Educational Trust since 2018. In that time I have worked with colleagues to grow the Trust from a two school MAT into a medium sized Multi Academy Trust of four schools upon five sites. Alongside this I serve upon an IEB, assisting the board to create a strong, sustainable structure for their future and I also act as a local parish councillor in support of my community. Before joining MET I worked as headteacher / executive headteacher in primary schools in the South West.

I appreciate the importance that the HTB plays in securing effective partnerships and provision for schools in the region and beyond and would like to use my experience and values to assist in those decisions.

I am a strong advocate for collaboration and the nurturing of opportunty; that together individuals and organisations are stronger and more effective. The decisions made at HTB level act as enabler and catalyst for this.

I am standing for election as I believe myself to be a public servant who acts in the best interest of education and the pupils within each school and would like the opportunity to enhance this further.
