Ian Beardmore

As an NLE, I have a history of supporting schools throughout the West Midlands and now relish the opportunity to support the work of the DfE on the Advisory Board. I have been a Headteacher or Executive Headteacher of Outstanding schools for over 15 years and took great pleasure taking over a school that required improvement and improved it to outstanding within 3 years. For the past 4 years I have been the Accounting Officer of the Newman Catholic Collegiate. The Collegiate is a group consisting of 8 primaries and 1 high school. This role has been most rewarding, putting systems and procedures into place, ensuring its financial stability, allowing the schools to grow and share good practice whilst also gaining a sound understanding of education from 2-19.
I feel I will bring an excellent knowledge of how successful systems management can drive improvement across a group of schools and an understanding of what is required for MATs to become strong and sustainable. I relish the opportunity to work with likeminded professionals to ensure that each and every young person in the West Midlands has access to the best possible education and prepares them fully for life in modern Britain.
