Tracey Savage

I have been Headteacher at Sandwich Technology School for seven years. We are a mixed 11-18 non-selective Single Academy Trust in a selective area, with 1450 students in our care. Previously I have worked in both Grammar and fully Comprehensive schools. I play an active role in working closely with other Secondary and Primary Headteachers in the district and believe that schools are strengthened through collaboration. I have successfully steered the trust through two Ofsted inspections. For four years I was on ASCL's Council and developed a good understanding of national issues. I believe that the Advisory Board plays a crucial role in our region and it is important that schools like mine, that serve a body of students where the top 35% are in local grammar schools, and where deprivation and poor motivation provide extra barriers to success, are represented and have a voice. Many such schools are precluded by the eligibility criteria, but are, none the less, providing the education of a large proportion of our young people. I believe that my experience, links with other schools, and knowledge at both a local and national level, render me ready to serve our region through the Advisory Board.
