Matthew Wright

I believe in the impact that academies and MATs can have when collaborating within and between organisations to develop leaders who can make the difference. I believe in the potential for smaller MATs to collaborate for the benefit of all. I believe that academies and MATs can be exciting and agile organisations that react at speed to raise the quality of provision; to expand to meet local demand; and to adapt working practices to support the wellbeing of staff and students.

I have been a leader in the academies sector in the SESL region since 2007. My experience includes working as a leader in the planning, opening and leading of a new academy on a new site, as a Headteacher of a semi-rural academy in Kent, taking on the executive leadership of a failing school (now ‘good’), and now as a CEO/EHT of a small MAT. I have experience of working in a faith school, an independent school abroad, and have spent most of my career leading non-selective and proudly inclusive schools in Kent. I have served on the Kent Association of Headteacher Executive Board for the last three years and am an Appointed Governor for a Kent NHS Trust.
