Statement

I am CEO of a growing Trust. I am interested in standing for the AB because I believe I can accurately portray the opinions and thoughts of similarly sized Trusts and, therefore, provide balance with those leaders of larger institutions. I firmly believe that we must take back the academy narrative and portray a more nuanced perspective than is currently played-out, i.e. "not all academies are bad, and neither are all good!" We are a diverse sector and it is important that when considering expansions or mergers, the RSC considers what is a good fit for the schools involved and, therefore, the children who will benefit. It is essential that the voice of academy leaders are heard loud and clear to ensure the best decisions for growth and expansion are made. Teaching is my third career with significant business and social work experience providing a wide, and relevant perspective. I am pragmatic, but have a clear vision for how our sector must assert the very best we have to offer and overcome the myths and negativity that sometimes abound. If we stick to the maxim of always doing 'what is best for the children', we can't go far wrong!
