Josephine Valentine

I am CEO of Danes Educational Trust, a medium size MAT of primary and secondary schools located in Hertfordshire. Prior to this I was Headteacher of St Clement Danes, an Ofsted outstanding secondary school. I am motivated to look beyond my own ‘school gate’ to support improvements in other schools and to contribute a practitioner voice to the decision making within the education system. My experiences and contributions to the wider system include:
• NLE since 2008
• Led the Herts and Bucks TSA for over 10 years. The TSA successfully supported many schools in improving provision and outcomes
• Lead proposer in the application to open Croxley Danes secondary school through the free school programme
• Regional Teaching School lead for Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire
• Member of the DfE Headteachers’ Reference Group
• Architect and lead of a national programme for outstanding school leaders, ‘Growing the Top’ as part of Challenge Partners
I am motivated by a deep moral purpose to improve the educational provision for all young people and experience has given me a clear vision of how to do this well. I would relish the opportunity to continue to contribute as part of the RSC’s Advisory
