Susan Douglas CBE

My name is Susan Douglas and I am CEO of the Eden Academy Trust, a position I have held since its inception in 2012. EAT comprises seven special schools with a further two in pre-opening, all of which are graded outstanding or good. I have also undertaken a variety of other roles including teaching and headship in mainstream primary education, senior policy adviser at the NCSL and senior adviser at the British Council, a job I continue to do part time alongside my CEO role and my Trustee role at NFER.

I have always been committed to securing a high quality, inclusive school system, where all pupils receive education that is suitably challenging, inspiring and effective. I am therefore particularly interested in how the structures and policies that underpin our current educational landscape can contribute to high quality education for all pupils, and can bring my experience – both in the UK and internationally – to influence this agenda. I would welcome the opportunity to collaborate and contribute to the considerable expertise that is present across every part of our sector to maximise opportunities and work together towards better outcomes.
