Matthew Gauthier

Having worked on leadership teams in several schools, I became Head of Samuel Ryder Academy (SRA) in St Albans in 2012, and have seen the school move from an Ofsted category to Good in 2016 with Leadership and Management judged Outstanding. SRA was the first all-through Academy in Hertfordshire and leading the school has given me an unusual insight into the issues affecting both the Secondary and Primary sectors. An additional understanding into educational issues has been provided by my role as a Trustee at the local ESC, where I Chair the Finance and Audit Committee. As well as my wealth of experience dealing with the challenges of the individual schools in which I have worked, I am also deputy CEO of the Scholars’ Education Trust, a cross-phase Multi Academy Trust (MAT), so am fully conversant with the latest developments in the educational landscape as well as being up-to-date with the workings of MATs and their associated benefits and challenges. I am committed to partnership and collaborative working, having previously chaired our local Headteacher group and currently serve on Hertfordshire Schools’ Forum. I am very enthusiastic about this opportunity to help shape educational provision in our region.
