Marino Charalambous

As a son of an immigrant family born in the UK, I was an EAL child who worked hard to succeed. As CEO of North Star Community Trust, through personal experience, I understand the challenges of equality, diversity and inclusion.

My passion for excellent education drives me to provide every child and young person with an enriching and inspiring educational experience where they can thrive academically and socially.

I am highly motivated to empower children to address the challenges of climate change and sustainability through the curriculum. Across the Trust, over 900 solar panels generate electricity, and every year we are doing more to help reduce our carbon footprint.

To support disadvantaged and vulnerable children and families, I created a central Safeguarding team and a Community Outreach team. The programmes and early intervention work we provide have been nationally recognised and helped hundreds of families and children through a holistic approach.

Heron Hall Academy, our secondary school, recently received the Pearson National Bronze Award for Secondary School of the Year. I am most proud of the success because we have Headteachers and senior leaders from the community, and children can look up and see people like them that have succeeded.
