I will bring substantial school improvement experience. I have held two primary headships moving an inadequate school to good as well as amalgamating and building a new primary school. I have worked in 5 different school settings with varying contextual differences. I was Director of Primary Education for Surrey County Council for 6 years working with 316 primary schools on strategy and school improvement. This role enabled me to work across many local authorities including Berkshire, Devon and Walthamstow as well as reporting to the DfE and Director of Children Services for Surry. I moved to Director of Education within a large National Multi Academy Trust for a further 6 years enabling many schools within the Trust to move to Outstanding as well as helping to enable inadequate schools move to good or better. In addition whilst working with this Trust we opened 7 new schools (including 2 free schools). I have held two CEO roles. One within a 4 school MAT (Oaks Academy- Surrey) and my current role within the Vale Academy Trust. My motivation for applying for this role is to share my balanced experience, empathy and understanding of complex contextual situations and to help improve education systems.
