Dr Alan Lee

The breadth of my experience, proven expertise and belief in a self-improving system make me an ideal candidate for the Advisory Board. I believe that school leaders should be given more control over the decisions, for which they are accountable.

Currently, I am the CEO of the Bedfordshire Schools Trust, a National Leader of Education (since 2011) and a Trustee of the Heart MAT and Mindfulness in Schools Project. Also, I Chair the Bedfordshire Strategic Partnership SCITT. In a career spanning over 30 years, I have been an Executive Headteacher, Headteacher, Inspector for Ofsted and the South East Representative for ASCL.

During my 6 years as a CEO, pupil numbers have risen by 44%, all schools are graded Good or better and financial sustainability has been secured. Previously, I have led schools to gain Outstanding status and supported others to do likewise. School improvement has been achieved in inner-city and rural areas, Faith and non-Faith schools and across Primary and Secondary phases.

My career continues to be a privilege and a joy. I believe that the children we serve deserve the very best and relish the opportunity to work alongside school leaders and the RSC to deliver just that.
