There are several thousand school trusts and several hundred local authorities running the school system in a manner that is inefficient and not conducive to sustained improvement.
The school system will improve faster if it completes the last decade’s reform journey, encouraging the growth of school trusts whilst encouraging and incentivising collaboration.
If we don’t make this happen, it is clear no-one else will do it for the children and families that we all serve.
As a trust leader who has led a school to achieve outstanding in all categories under the most recent framework alongside excellent outcomes, I believe in collaboration that encourages much closer working and helps the school system improve.
It is to that end that I have been on groups writing the Headteacher Standards (2020), the new standards for NLEs (not yet released), the Early Career Framework, and I also currently lead one of the country’s 22 Behaviour Hubs, encouraging collaboration for the benefit of pupils.
I also have extensive experience of Trust governance that I can bring to this advisory role.
Most importantly, I am completely committed to transparency, and will do everything I can to ensure decisions are made public, as befits our sector.
