Raising the ambitions of children, teachers, and support staff has been my life’s work. I am driven by the belief ‘A great education can transform lives’ and that we do this best through formal Trust structures. These harness the immense talent across our schools and support those in most need. I will implement this agenda with vigour at advisory board level and look beyond perceived limitations to ensure NE schools are truly the best in the country.

I believe the strongest Trusts give headteachers significant autonomy, whilst collaborating with other schools and aligning around the best practice.

Since 2017 our Trust has grown from 3 schools to 31, giving me expertise in supporting schools successfully through the conversion process. Fundamentally, I know how to support leaders to bring about meaningful progress, having delivered on school improvement as a CEO, a headteacher, and an NLE. Working across our Primaries and High schools has led to powerful cross phase curriculum development.

As the Chair of NETSP, I support the development of ECF and NPQs throughout our region. As a fellow of the RSA, I am an advocate of arts education, having spoken on this subject at a House of Lords select committee.
