Jonathan Johnson

My motivation for applying to be an Advisory Board member is my commitment to helping schools and trusts raise standards for children. I recognise in myself the overwhelming desire to be an ambassador for the profession; providing continued impetus in an advisory and capacity-building function, reflecting the legacy of our profession’s investment in the communities we serve.

Holding privileged and trusted positions in wider networks including the Teaching School Hub Council have helped me understand our duty to promote working across the system on strategic strands of work that weave collaboration rather than independence. They provide me with insight in to the enormous breadth of our system and the people who work in it. I’ve supported schools and system leaders across the region, building infrastructure from coast to coast, supporting the capacity and reach of their expertise. Through the delivery of DfE commissions such as School Improvement Offer and Recovery Offer, I’ve supported NLEs in targeted activity with many schools in need.

Colleagues tell me that I am a respected public face of our profession, upholding NOLAN principles, and I would continue to use that platform to evidence and present the scale and the impact of school and trust leadership.
