My motivation for standing for election to the Advisory Board for the RSC stems from a deep seated belief that all children deserve an excellent education regardless of what school they attend.
What follows is the strong belief that is best achieved by expanding the academisation programme, which is fundamentally about Outstanding trusts and schools supporting and helping challenging trusts and schools to improve.
I have 28 years experience as Headteacher of a large, inner city comprehensive which was awarded outstanding status in 2016 and have 2 years’ experience as CEO of the Flagship Learning Trust.
I believe this knowledge of education and professional expertise has given me a wealth of experience that I could use to support, challenge and help the RSC to make academy related decisions on behalf of the secretary of state for education.
On a wider scale I have delivered INSET, CPD and support for schools across the North West. In the past 2 years I have been part of the Greater Manchester Pathways to Success programme. In addition we were a lead school in the DfE Improving Schools Programme. I am also a lead ambassador for the Youth Sport Trust and SSAT LLP Experienced Leader.
