In seeking election, I hope to contribute to the development of trusts in our region, particularly supporting growth of small and emerging trusts where there is a strong record of school improvement. Listening to and representing the views of local trust leaders will help to ensure accountability and a system driven by successful school leaders, whilst also supporting the strategic vision.
Specific details surrounding the ‘levelling up’ agenda are scant but addressing the North-South Attainment Gap must be a core component of the strategy. RSCs are fundamental to delivery and allocation of resources with the Advisory Board providing a mechanism through which system leaders can help shape and address regional priorities. Representing the views of trust and academy leaders so that they drive the strategy, informed by evidence of successful approaches applied to the local context, will be a priority.
My background is wholly in schools and Trusts across the North West and includes headship of an outstanding academy in East Lancashire, establishing a multi-academy trust on the back of that track record, secondment as executive headteacher for 20 months to support a school in challenging circumstances and my current role as CEO of the Pennine Trust in Pendle, Lancashire.
