Chris Wheatley

Hi my name is Chris Wheatley and I am CEO of The Flying High Trust. FHT is a primary Trust which has schools across Nottinghamshire, Nottingham City and Derbyshire. As a Trust, FHT started from one school in 2012 (Cotgarve Candleby Lane School in Nottinghamshire) in which I was head teacher. I passionately believe in school to school / Trust to Trust collaboration (Candleby Lane originated out of a three school amalgamation, this completely opened my eyes to the power of strong school collaboration and the benefits this can bring to our profession). This developed into a teaching school in 2010 and latterly evolved this into a MAT. Effective collaboration, leading to school improvement is at the heart of what I feel the our system needs, I firmly believe that we have the expertise in our region to create a self improving school led system. From stand alone academy, to small or large Mats we need to work together for the benefit of all of our children, therefore if selected for this position i will work tirelessly to support regional school improvement and collaborations to benefit every child in South Yorkshire and the Humber and the East Midlands
