Mark Mallender

I have spent my whole life in education, from being a pupil/student myself, being a teacher, senior leader, deputy headteacher, headteacher, Ofsted Inspector, SSIO, Head of School Improvement and CEO. I continually draw from all these experiences (and yes, those of my own school days also) to try and constantly improve the education, provision and life chances for as many children/young people as possible; not only within the Trust which I work (DDAT), but across the wider system wherever possible. And in a nutshell, that is why I am putting myself forward for this role, so that together we can make a difference through the decisions that will be made, always with the children/young people across the whole region at heart.
As a headteacher, I applied a determined and rigorous approach to school improvement. Provision for pupils greatly improved, resulting in outstanding outcomes. This was acknowledged through Ofsted and SIAMS inspections. As an SSIO and later as a trust leader, I applied this experience (and continued to learn) to bring about stark improvements in some challenging contexts. I would love to be able to continue to learn and to find the best ways to improve the lives of young people.
