I am a teacher of history, CEO of TEAL since 2018, and was previously headteacher at South Hunsley School.

Our trust improvement strategy is one sentence” “The success of our schools depends on our ability to ensure we have a good teacher in every classroom, delivering an excellent curriculum, supported by effective systems for behaviour”. This strategy is based on all the evidence that shows that the effectiveness of teachers makes the biggest difference in the success of children.

I believe that we have spent too much time talking about structures and developing an accountability system that has driven good teachers and leaders from the profession. Multi-academy trusts can be a huge force for good, but not all have been. The next generation of trust leaders need to do everything we can to keep great people in our schools. We can do this through collective ethical leadership and stopping competing with each other.

I am standing for election as I want to give a stronger voice to the growing number of trust leaders who wish to change the narrative around multi-academy trusts and create better schools and a sustainable high-performing system through real partnership, collaboration and developing more intelligent accountability.
