Statement

SENDAT is a MAT focused on Special schools and AP provision, comprising of 3 schools with a 4th opening in January 2022. All current SENDAT schools are close to achieving Trauma Informed School status. We have also worked with mainstream partners to open new specialist resources bases/units to further support the local SEND offer in the region. The growth of SENDAT has included sponsoring a converting PRU, opening a new special free school and the development of specialist units.

My motivation for standing is to ensure that SEND has a strong voice on the Board. We are keen to support any school and provider to develop increased SEND and inclusive provision for children of all ages. I am keen to work with all stakeholders to continue to broaden the post-16 progression and life chances of young people with SEND in the region.

I feel I bring local expertise and knowledge in the field of SEND and behaviour. I have recently completed the NPQEL and currently sit on Suffolk’s SEND programme board. I also have extensive networks with other heads of special schools and Trusts and promote a collaborative approach in supporting school improvement across all sectors.
