Tim Coulson

I have worked across the region in a variety of roles since 2012, as director of education for Essex County Council, as an RSC for the region and as CEO of a trust that includes schools in four of the local authorities in the region. I have worked previously in a range of local and national roles, including as a headteacher in London. Our trust has primary, secondary and special schools, and has recently opened new specialist provision in both primary and secondary schools for children with cognition and learning and communication and interaction needs. We are soon to open a fourth and fifth new school.
It is time to unleash ambitious trusts to transform the region to be the region everyone notices. It is time for the Advisory Board to set an ambition for trust growth over the next three years, and to back up this ambition with the support for school and trust leaders that will enable them to take the risks needed, without one eye constantly over their shoulder. It is time for school and trust leaders to lead and not wait for others to set the agenda.
