Committee Vacancies
Our task focused committees support the delivery of our 2023-2027 strategy, and they lead on important and highly-valued activities that support BSR in its mission to create a community of best practice. If you’re interested in supporting our outstanding clinical engagement, education and registers and research programmes and/or advancing knowledge and practice in the field of rheumatology through our scientific programme at conference, then we recommend seeking nomination to join one of the committees below.
The committees are directly accountable to the Board of Trustees and will regular report to the Board on overall progress of the committee’s work. The Board approves the workplan for these committees for the forthcoming year.
These roles unless specified are open to all members eligible to seek nomination working within a rheumatology multidisciplinary team in a paediatric, adolescent or adult service throughout the UK.
Overview of each committee and what each role entails:
Education Committee (4 committee member vacancies)
Responsible for developing and delivering our outstanding education programme for the whole multidisciplinary team and relevant care across the whole lifespan.Committee member role description
Clinical Affairs Committee (5 committee member vacancies)
Responsible for our clinical engagement programme and input into our proactive and reactive public policy agenda. They oversee NICE appraisals and other external consultation, create guidance that supports service development and improvement, and support BSR to influence national policy and public affairs directly relevant to the quality and practice of rheumatology.Committee member role description
Heberden Committee(10 committee member vacancies, including Chair)
Responsible for advancing knowledge and practice in the field of rheumatology through our scientific conference programmes. They also encouraging clinical excellence through the facilitation of prizes and awards.Committee member role description
Committee Chair role description
Registers & Research Committee (3 committee member vacancies, including Chair)
Responsible for ensuring registers and research activity maintains coherence and relevance to BSRs strategic aims and continue to advance rheumatology practice.Committee member role description

Trainees Committee (9 committee member vacancies)
Responsible for advising on matters relevant to trainees in respect of education, training, workforce issues, research and professional and organisational standards. It ensures our work fully reflects the needs and views of members.The committee has representation from regions, devolved nations and the paediatric and adolescent community. Applicants must be based in one of the regions/ devolved nation or community listed below to be eligible for a role on this committee.
