Welcome to the British Society for Rheumatology
2023 Elections

Make your mark in the rheumatology community by seeking a leadership role with us.

This election round, we’re encouraging members who are interested in shaping the future of BSR, supporting our outstanding clinical engagement, education and registers and research programmes, advancing knowledge and practice in the field of rheumatology through our scientific programme at conference and/or expanding local and national networks to put themselves forward for nomination.

We’re looking for passionate and dedicated members working within a rheumatology multidisciplinary team in a paediatric, adolescent or adult service throughout the UK to stand election for roles on our:

  • Board of Trustees – 4 vacancies, including nurse and paediatric protected roles
  • MDT Advisory Council – 15 vacancies, including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
  • Clinical Affairs Committee – 5 vacancies
  • Education Committee – 4 vacancies
  • Heberden Committee – 10 vacancies, including Chair
  • Registers and Research Committee – 3 vacancies, including Chair
  • Trainee’s Committee – 9 vacancies, including Scotland, Wales

We also have an exciting role this year for a paediatric rheumatology consultant who can represent the paediatric and adolescent community as a Vice President (non-trustee role).

Details of individual posts, how to apply and the election process will be available when you log in. If you would like to chat informally to a member of the BSR team about the various roles and time commitment, please get in touch.
As a reminder, BSR membership is a huge asset and we are committed to encouraging inclusion, equality and diversity. We are actively trying to increase the diversity of our staff team and volunteer roles. We try to reduce as many barriers as we can for those with a disability, which you can find out more about here. We welcome approaches from individuals from underrepresented groups, including those from minoritised communities, and those with a disability, to better reflect the community we serve and help broaden our perspectives.

Nominations open on Wednesday 1 November and will close at 5pm on Friday 17 November.
