Peter COLLINS (United States of America)

Position Director of Resource Sharing
Organisation OCLC
Motivation statement

I joined the IFLA Document Delivery and Resource Sharing Standing Committee in 2013. In 2015 I was elected Secretary. From 2017 – present I have served as DDRS Committee Chair. During these years, the committee has hosted the biannual Interlending and Document Supply Conference, open sessions at WLIC every year, and started the RSCVD.org interlending program in response to the global pandemic. My term in DDRS has culminated with our committee winning the coveted IFLA Dynamic Unit and Impact award.

My professional experience is primarily with academic libraries and library consortia, most recently ten years at the University of Pennsylvania as Public Services Librarian. Throughout my 25 years in libraries, I have been exposed to all levels of operations, and as Public Services Librarian, I always made sure that our focus was on what is best for library users.

In 2020 I moved to OCLC as Director of Resource Sharing, coordinating community activities and outreach as well as product development to support OCLC's global resource sharing membership. In this role I work with all library types and sizes, leading and organizing libraries around future directions in library collections, sharing, and user-facing services.
