Christina DE CASTELL (Canada)
|Position||Chief Librarian & CEO|
|Organisation||Vancouver Public Library|
As current vice-chair of the Canadian Federation of Library Associations Copyright Committee, copyright advisor to the Canadian Urban Libraries Council, and member of IFLA CLM (2017-2021), I bring expertise in policy matters related to national and international copyright advocacy and coordinating across libraries for action to advance shared priorities. I have a long history of advocacy and coordination related to ebooks in public libraries, including the leadership group of ReadersFirst, and many years on IFLA's eLending working group. This has included specific activities that bring people together to solve problems and create change, using evidence to prove arguments. I enjoy working across library sectors, nationally and internationally, and brought my strength in policy, advocacy and relationship-building to IFLA HQ in 2015-16 as Manager, Policy & Advocacy, representing IFLA in numerous venues and advocating for libraries. I have also held leadership positions in the Special Libraries Association and the provincial library association. I'm interested in bringing my strengths in communication, strategic thinking, creating concrete action plans, and engaging people in shared priorities to create a strong start for this new North American Regional Division.
